In this conceptual exercise, we were asked to construct a 20-foot by 20-foot room to illustrate a set of ideas. I created a living space that would be impossible to live in in order to question the convenience of the houses and products for sale today. After building the shell of the home, I populated it with existing elements, then edited these elements in ways that subverted their purpose and made them unusable.
Walls that do not protect and prevent passage through the space
Chairs that are locked together so that only one can be used at a time
A blanket that will not hold in heat
A bathroom that will not allow the door to open
A couch that would not be comfortable to sit on
